Year 2004

Year 2004 was good and bad at the same time for Buffy/Angel fans. Of cause, the worst thing was Angel cancellation plus Sarah Michelle Gellar, who hasn't appeared in final Season 5. Also all planned Buffy spin-offs never came true (let's hope they'll do soon). Even Buffy Animater Series, that was all about to be released, unfortunately wasn't. However, there were much great stuff, like Sarah Michelle Gellar! She appeared on movie screen twice: in Scooby Doo 2 and amazing The Grudge, that became super hit and made Sarah an official world star. Sarah appeared on hundreds of magazine covers, made some really great photoshoots (for Esquire and Entertainment Weekly) and traveled the world to promote The Grudge, so many fans finally met their idol. Another Buffy/Angel star, Charisma Carpenter, returned to the TV screen in 3 episodes of Charmed (well, she died in her last episode, but still - great fun!). Eliza Dushku's Tru Calling series was closed after only 5 episodes of Season 2 were shot. There's not clear, are we gonna see those episodes or not, but with show's cancellation I hope Eliza will return to movie buisness soon. US fans now have full Buffy series on DVD - Seasons 5, 6 & 7 were released this year, also in UK was released huge box-set with all Buffy episodes on 39 discs. Still no hope series'll be released in Russia, sorry. Let's hope year 2005 will bring us more Buffy news and those news would be only good! Happy New Year!

Sarah Michelle Gellar as new scream queen?

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who slayed vampires in Buffy for 7 years returned to the big screen with horror movie 'The Grudge', which will probably become year's best horror (and HMA '04 Best movie - if you'll vote for it here!). Critics call this movie "...mad frightening" (E! Online), "A frighteningly effective remake of a Japanese horror" (Hollywood Reporter) and that "... you can't help but be yanked back in your seat" (Chicago Tribune). Also with only 10 million $ budget, it already earned over 40 million $ plus DVD release will make 'Sony Pictures' really happy. However, film's star, Sarah, now traveling the world to promote 'The Grudge'. She already was in UK, Netherlands, Italy and Spain. But after 'The Grudge' wave will go down, what will Sarah do? There are some rumours in the Internet, that she'll play in another thriller movie called 'Revolver' by Asif Kapadia. The story is about successful woman, who had nightmares about strange death of young woman 25 years ago. Don't know about you, but it sounds like Gothika for me. So, if Sarah'll play in this movie (that is about to be released in 2006), will she officially become new Hollywood scream queen, like Neve Campbell or Jamie Lee Curtis? We'll see. In my opinion, that's not so bad for actress, who killed (in Buffy) and was killed (in Scream 2 and I know, what you did last summer) for years!

Tom Lenk's new movie!

Tom Lenk (Andrew in Buffy's Season 6 & 7) is making his way to the big screen with role in new comedy 'Window Theory' (film in post-production status). In movie about guy, who returned to his hometown to best friend's wedding and discovered that the bride is his school girlfriend, also plays Luke Kirby from Halloween: Resurrection. It's always good to see Buffy stars on the big screen!

'The Grudge' DVD!

The latest Sarah Michelle Gellar movie comes to DVD on February, 1st. The disc will include audio commentary by Sarah, director Takashi Shimizu and Sam Raimi. 'Bonus Materials' will include 55 minutes of behind-the-scenes video and documentary 'Under the Skin', in which sciencest will try to understand the nature of human fears, and why people watch horror movies. For this movie there's only one answer for me - 'cause Sarah's here! However Russian version will be released in January, 13-th, probably without any bonuses!

'The Grudge': Sequel plans and Box-office info

'The Grudge', the US remake of Japanese horror movie 'Ju-On', that stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, was released in US cinemas at October, 21. And with budget at only 10 million $, it already have over 40 million $ and it has # 1 on Week-end's box-office. With film's huge success, it is clear that studio decided to make a sequel. The main question is Will our little Buff return to fight ghosts again in 'The Grudge 2'?. In my opinion, it is early to make any plans - by the way 'The Grudge' sequel means no 'Buffy'/'Angel' movies with Sarah in the next few years. 'The Grudge' opens in Russian cinemas at December, 2d.

'Buffy: The Complete Series' comes to DVD!

Finally, all 7 Seasons of 'Buffy' in 1 huge box-set comes to DVD in UK for about 150 pounds. The set will include 39 discs with all Buffy's episodes and bonus materials like commentaries, features, galleries and more!

'Tru Calling' Season 1 DVD Cover Art & Info!

Eliza Dushku's (Faith in 'Buffy/Angel'-verse) show 'Tru Calling' Season 1, and maybe the only ever ('Fox' cancelled show's Season 2 after only 5 episodes were filmed), comes to US on DVD on November, 30th. Box-set will be packed with some interesting extras: commentaries, 3 features, Music Video, Deleted Scenes and more!

'Scooby Doo 2' Russian DVDs

Last Sarah Michelle Gellar's movie 'Scooby Doo 2' was released in Russia on DVD on September, 2. But it's not the end of the story - on October, 7th, will be released 'Collector's Edition' of the movie.

Charisma Carpenter in 'Charmed'!

Charisma Carpenter, famous for her role of Cordelia in first 3 seasons of 'Buffy' and 'Angel' will appear in some 'Charmed' Season 7th's episodes. And there's also opportunity for her to become regular cast member.

New sequels: "Cruel Intentions 3" and "Skulls 3"

Sarah Michelle Gellar's "Cruel Intentions" gets 2nd sequel! After terrible "Cruel Intentions 2" with Sarah Thompson (Angel's season 5 and upcoming horror "Tamara") "Cruel Intentions" return. With Kerr Smith (Final Destination) and Stephany Romanov (Lilah from first 4 seasons of Angel) stars, I still don't think, that there's gotta be a good movie.
Another teen thriller, "Skulls", which already got 2002 sequel "Skulls 2" gets 3-d chapter with Clare Kramer (Glory form Buffy's season 5) in main role. Those films'll released in May on DVD and Video.

Sarah won't appear in "Angel"!!!

Moviehole.net reports about Sarah Michelle Gellar's appearing in Angel season 5 (the last one). It was a long waited appearing and sadly Buffy and Angel fans'll never see it. Sarah was asked to pop up in the second last episode of the season – not the finale – and at that time was working on “The Grudge” in Tokyo, so couldn’t do it. She was available to do the season finale however, but Joss Whedon decided against it, because he didn’t want Angel’s bon voyage to "revolve around a guest star," he says simply. "We will deal with the issue of Buffy and how much she means to Angel and Spike, but I want to end the show with the people who’ve been in the trenches together, the characters who have lived - and occasionally died - together... the regulars."

Apparently by the time Gellar said she could do the season finale, it was too late anyway. "We had already written and shot the episode [for which we originally wanted her] which emotionally dealt with [the romantic rivalry]," Jeffrey Bell, Joss Whedon Angel's partner says. "So, to go [back] and force her into the very last episode to retread stuff that we already dealt with didn’t make any sense. "By the time it became a possibility," he goes on, "the ship had sort of sailed."

"Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" Story!

In the upcoming "Scooby Doo" (2002) sequel, which will be released in US at March, 26 Sarah Michelle Gellar again played Daphne! Here's the story:

In Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Scooby and the gang lose their cool - and their stellar reputation - when an anonymous masked villain wreaks mayhem on the city of Coolsville with a monster machine that re-creates classic Mystery Inc. foes like The Pterodactyl Ghost, The Black Knight Ghost, Captain Cutler's Ghost and The 10,000 Volt Ghost.
Under pressure from relentless reporter Heather Jasper-Howe (ALICIA SILVERSTONE) and the terrified citizens of Coolsville, the gang launches an investigation into the mysterious monster outbreak that leaves Shaggy and Scooby questioning their roles in Mystery Inc.
The ever-ravenous duo, determined to prove they're great detectives, don a series of far-out disguises in their search for clues. All signs point to Jeremiah "Old Man" Wickles (PETER BOYLE), the former Black Knight Ghost who was once unmasked by the gang and thrown in jail. Buffy in Angel Season 5!

Sarah Michelle Gellar may appear in Angel. As Joss Whedon told: "I have (talked to her), and so has David (Fury). She's always been very open to the idea...but it's really about schedules. It would be great if she could do it around, hmmm, I don't know...sweeps? But she's doing Scooby Doo, and I don't know when she'll be available."

New David Boreanaz Movie - Crow 4!

Cool news about David 'Angel' Boreanaz - he'll appear in 4-th "Crow" movie called "Wicked Prayer", directed by Lance Mungia. Cast including: Tara Reid (Urban Legend), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Wrong Turn), Dennis Hopper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) and more! Film now at post-production status.
