Here you can find an interview about 'Eurovision', which Javine gave to the 'Top of the Pops' website! Follow the Link for the original version.
Top of the Pops: So, Javvie. Are you nervous about playing Eurovision?
Javine:What am I doing to myself! I like pressure, don't I? Nah, I think it's all good. It was a big thing to go to Making Your Mind Up. Obviously, I want to win and I'm just going to go out there and enjoy it. It's going to probably be the biggest audience I'll ever play to.
TOTP: Do you have a gimmick planned?
Javine:There's no gimmicks. I think that if the song and performance are good and I can manage to sing in tune, I won't be getting nil points! I shall be singing my socks off.
TOTP: OK, let's learn from other people's mistakes. Now a couple of years back, tATu kissed on stage. What do you think of that? Was it a good move or not.
Javine: Well, they came third, so I suppose it's a bit of a let down when people do things like that because it should be about the song, not taking your clothes off, etc. It's a bit of a sly move, but... well, they may have come last if they hadn't done something!
TOTP: And... well, we're not sure that it was intentional, but Jemini's gimmick was that they couldn't pitch the notes correctly.
Javine: Haha! That didn't do us any justice. Hmm... I shall be avoiding that.
TOTP: Last year, we tried "bloke with a guitar". A good move, do you think?
Javine: Hmm... maybe a bit bland, no. I mean all the other countries are OTT and pull out all the stops. You need to set that stage on fire because there are 27 countries and people will get bored, otherwise.
TOTP: Most famously, Bucks Fizz did the skirts ripping off during their performance. Was that a good move, or maybe a little sexist?
Javine: When I look back at it now, it looks so dated but it was cute and funny at the time.
TOTP: Have you heard any of your competitors?
Javine: I've heard the Greek and Cypriot songs. There are some good ones, there are some naff ones. But I think it's good to have competition. It pushes you that little bit more.
TOTP: Anyone you feel scared of?
Javine: The Greek girl is very talented. BUT her song isn't as good as mine!
TOTP: Of course, Terry Wogan is part of the whole Eurovision institution. Do you think there'll be a national day of mourning when he retires?
Javine: For the UK public he goes hand in hand. But I'm sure they'll find some spunky new talent!
TOTP: Euro or Olympics
Javine: Ooh, you've put me on the spot. Both! No, if I had to choose.... maybe Olympics are more important. Nah, I didn't say that.
TOTP: What's your favourite Eurovision song of all time.
Javine: [sings] Waterloo! Abba. It's just the best song to have come out of Eurovision. And it's lead to so many other great songs.
